| Seeing this little list in a post by my friend, dukecityjim, I decided to do it too:
[Numbers 23 through 25 newly revised to reflect MY answers, rather than Jim's!!]
1. Where did you ring in 2006? I was at home, with my cats, probably reading.
2. What was your status by Valentine's Day? Same as always -- single. With cats.
3. Were you in school anytime this year? Yeppers. I took a magazine writing course, a copyediting course, and a travel writing course at George Brown College in Toronto. This is all towards the Editing Certificate, which I will have after the practical placement requirement, next quarter.
4. How did you earn your keep? Doing records management projects at an insurance company. And had two articles published, but I'd still consider those pure gravy.
5. Did you ever have to go to the hospital? Yes, but only for a mammogram.
6. Have you ever encountered the police? Not in 2006, no.
7. Where did you go on vacation? I didn't.
8. What did you purchase that was over $500? I think it was this year that I got the third tooth crowned, very early on. (They tend to blur together after a while.)
9. Did you know anyone who got married? A couple of co-workers, throughout the year, but nobody I'm close to.
10. Did you know anyone who passed away? No.
11. Have you run into anyone you graduated high school with? Never.
12. Did you move anywhere? No.
13. What sporting event did you go to? None.
14. What concerts did you go to? None. YEGODS, I'M BORING!!! Ahem. Must change that.
15. Are you registered to vote? Yes.
16. If so, did you do your patriotic duty on November 7th? Heh. This is an American survey, obviously. Erm, no I didn't, but only 'cause I live in Canada. But I did vote in the municipal election (and my guy won -- yay!).
17. Where do you live now? Toronto.
18. Describe your birthday. I was going to take myself out for dinner at the CN Tower, but cancelled the reservation for various reasons. I decided I'd take myself to a restaurant that was closer to where I live, and NOTHING WAS OPEN because I was doing it on the Sunday. So I ended up wandering around till my feet were tired, looking for a restaurant. And finally eating at the same place I "made do" with last year, because I'd done that on Sunday too. Next year -- I PICK A DIFFERENT DAY. Duh!
19. What's the one thing you thought you'd never do, but did, in 2006? Think I could publish an article -- and did, twice!
20. What is one thing you regretted this year? Being so sick when I had two visitors -- from two different parts of the U.S. -- in the same weekend in May, so I wasn't at my best with either of them.
21. What's something you learned about yourself this year? That I can actually write articles, and can work at getting them published, without being as afraid as I used to be about such things.
22. Any new additions to your family? No.
[For some reason, my first posting of this lost my own answers for #23-25, and stuck in Jim's instead, since I was copying from his original. I have *NO* idea how that happened, since I had -- I swear! -- deleted his answers! So here are MY answers. Sheesh!]
23. What was your best month? The month from mid-June to mid-July or so. That was when the World Cup was on, and I was writing that first article, and also really getting into another story I was writing. I was absolutely flying.
24. What from pop culture will you remember 2006 by? I don't pay much attention to that stuff, beyond noticing it at the moment. And then -- appropriate to exactly how important it really is -- it flies out of my head, and I don't tend to retain it. I think, if I had to come up with something, I would say that the nicest pop-culture-related thing I discovered in 2006 is just how GREEN-conscious George Clooney is. From the cover of Vanity Fair in May, to being named Sexiest Man of the Year -- I liked it, because he sounds like a very conscientious, decent, intelligent, well-educated and caring person.
25. What would you rate this year with a scale of 1 (shitty) to 10 (the shit)? I'd probably put 2006 at an 8+ or a 9. It's been a pretty good year, in general, for me.
Not too shabby, really. |
