What a day! Or what a morning, at least. And I'm rather amused, because I've never known a full moon to affect buildings before.

The elevators in my apartment building were...extremely dysfunctional...when I was leaving for work. That is, you could hear some of them working when you pressed your ear against the door after waiting 15 minutes for them, but they never seemed to arrive.

So finally I (along with a long stream of other people) had to clomp down 28 flights of stairs. On two sprained knees and a very bad ankle. (That is...they didn't all go down from the 28th floor, and I'll bet none of them had the knees and ankle, but anyway.)

I could feel my inner Berserker kind of snorting restlessly in her sleep, but she didn't quite wake up, even though I marched straight to the manager's office after I finally got to ground level. I didn't blow the windows out, as I'd thought I would, but simply told the lady in the office about the 28 floors and the knees and ankle, and informed her that if our landlord company doesn't finally get these damn elevators FIXED, "there will be lawsuits and petitions to City Hall." Then I stalked off.

They don't want to meet the Berserker. Trust me.

Meanwhile, after walking on rubber legs down yet another four flights of stairs in the subway, I finally made it onto the train and got to work.

Then a friend in New Jersey, who emails me during the day, told me that everyone at his job had to evacuate their building for a while, because there was a gas smell and they thought there might be a leak or something. They finally got to come back into the building and get back to work, though, so everything was okay. (Odd, however...he never did answer my subsequent email. Hm...)

But it led me to wonder what was going on with weird things happening in various buildings today. Maybe it was just me and T.

It was nice, though, that the universe seemed to have gotten it out of its system in one concentrated hour or so. The rest of the day was fine. But I did not do as I'd originally planned, and cart boxes all over the building. I'd already gotten more than enough exercise for the day, thankyewverymuch.
