Damn. Another one today, or rather, yesterday. The building, properties, and facilities manager in our company died suddenly of a massive heart attack yesterday.

He wasn't far from retirement, and a younger guy has been working in the company for a few months now, learning the ropes so he could take over the job from Gerry when he retired. Well. Chris has the job now, cold turkey. He must feel overwhelmed.

Gerry was the coolest guy. Rather gruff, but always cheerful and helpful, and he really got things done. If the elevator doors opened and you saw him in there, or if you walked into the lobby and he was chatting with the security guy, your spirits lifted before he even turned to greet you.

Poor Gerry. We're all in shock. He was probably the best-loved guy in the company.
